Daniel was motivated by his love for God and trusted Him with all his heart. King Nebuchadnezzar was motivated by his love for power and control. One believed in the Lord God Almighty while the other was a pagan king who wanted to be worshipped. Daniel, while in captivity, stayed true to his principles with respect to eating habits, relationships, and worship. In addition, he was gifted with the ability to interpret dreams. Nebuchadnezzar learned this early on and leaned on Daniel’s gifts. Over 40 years later, thanks to Daniel’s phileo love and patience, the once malevolent king finally acknowledged Daniel’s God as the most high God.
