As parents, do we have favorites? We’re not supposed to. There might be that one you have an affinity toward that defies common sense; even when that child goes astray. Absalom, the third child of David, was such a child. His expectations of his father were beyond tradition, law, and precedent or accepted practice. He wanted what David could not give. Absalom had a choice, to either forgive his father for the choices he made or perpetrate sheer hatred upon him. How did David handle this dishonor? Because of David’s unconditional (agape) love, he really only had one choice.
